A stark contrast to the accessibility of Widemouth, despite the coast path running as an easy walk on top of the cliff, access to the shore is very limited. There are no public facilities here. Limited parking makes it easier to walk from either Widemouth or Bude. The stretch is approximately 3 miles long and the geology is consistently harsh. The coastline forms multiple coves backed by cliffs with cobbles and bare rock. The cliffs are fragile and landslips frequent so cliff nesting birds are infrequent. This is extreme rock pooling territory and it requires knowledge of tides and safety measures (letting people know where you are). It is impossible to explore the entire section without a kayak or boat, the waves limit the opportunities to do this safely. Running from the north end of Widemouth beach all the way to Compass point in Bude it is an exciting isolated location to explore. The cliff-top flora is interesting and so this makes a nice in-season walk.
One to explore with friends who are mountain goats on a good low tide, access from near Elements resturant or just past the last house in Upton. Please do not wander along this section alone.
